It can be a challenge to stay motivated to plan during the cold winter months. I am here to help with several low prep ideas that will take moments to prep but tons of fun!
Why low prep therapy?
Sometimes we need to just grab items we have around our therapy rooms and use them with our students. We don’t want to spend a ton of time laminating or prepping but we want our students motivated to participate.
What are some fun, easy to implement winter themes?
- Hot chocolate
- Winter sports
- Winter clothes
Ready for some low prep fun?! In no particular order…

Foldables are great for working on main idea and sequencing, All you need it a piece of paper, scissors, and pencils/markers/crayons. Students can draw their main idea on the front and in each flap write the different steps on how to achieve a task. You can provide students with the main idea, have them pick from choices, or let it be open-ended with a winter theme. They can draw/write about making a snowman, making hot chocolate, shoveling snow, getting dressed for winter, having a snow day, and more!
Winter themed compare/contrast
You can take any Venn diagram or even just make one quickly on a piece of paper, dry erase board, or poster board. You can have students compare:
- polar bears and penguins
- skiing and snowboarding
- hot chocolate and coffee
- gloves and mittens
- hat and earmuffs
