A few weeks ago, I was having a hard time getting my 6th graders started for their speech therapy session.
They wouldn't stop talking about a new song that had just "dropped" the day before. It'd only been one day, and they already knew the lyrics by heart.

This made me realize something.

Music is POWERFUL.🎧

I hate hearing SLPs talk about how stressed and burnt out they are.
💬 I’m so stressed! I don’t even know where to begin.

There are three things that I use to easily make my speech therapy sessions effective for older students:

1. Highly engaging materials (technology, themes older kids enjoy)

2. Games (everything’s more fun when you’re “competing,” even if it’s just against yourself)

3. SIMPLE materials - I mean super simple. Yes, I could have made awesome cards in PPT, printed them out, laminated them... but why? These took 5 seconds. My students used them. They were SUCCESSFUL.💥

Save this as your reminder that it doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.💜
