Do you struggle with how to help your studens understand difficult situations?
Children-friendly books are a great way to open up dialog and start conversations.
I am excited to be talking about this on today’s episode and give you some good advice!
My guest, Hailey Glynn, is the perfect person to talk to about this because she recently became an author/illustrator when she wrote and illustrated the story “When Virona the Corona Came to Town.”
Hailey Glynn is a teacher in Buffalo, NY. This is her fourth year teaching first grade! She recently became an author/illustrator when she wrote and illustrated the story “When Virona the Corona Came to Town.” She was trying to think of a way to help her students understand the pandemic and her mom suggested that she write a book! She has enjoyed sharing the book with her students and now with children all over the world as well! Hailey has other books in the works!
Hailey has her B.A. in international relations and Spanish and her M.Ed. in childhood education. Hailey is very passionate about what she does and truly believes that “education is the greatest weapon which you can use to change the world” (-Nelson Mandela). She loves traveling, photography, painting, family time and eating buffalo chicken wing dip!
In This Episode, You’ll Discover:
- The value of using books to communicate
- How fictional stories help children cope with difficult situations
- Tips for those that struggle to explain situations to students
