I found this amazing toy on Amazon a few weeks ago. I have been having a blast using it with my students to target TONS of goals!
Introducing, Puppets on a stick!
These “puppets” look like aliens (and have names that they come with but you can totally have the students make up their own names!). You can clearly use them as obvious puppets and have students work on the following:
- Social skills
- Articulation
- Fluency
- Expanding utterance length
- Role play concepts taught in class like social studies or storybooks
But you know that I clearly did not just use them as puppets! I had MUCH more fun with them!
I took task cards and place them along the edge of my therapy table. We had fun taking turns and picking up the cards with the puppets mouth! We answered the question and then placed the card in a cup, or bucket, or elsewhere.
Below you can see how one of my students used this toy to work on intelligibility. I made a pacing board and a visual for him to rate his speech.
My student had so much fun with these puppets, he did not realize he was drilling!
