Want to include more technology in your speech room?
My district provided all of the staff with Chrome books and I am really looking forward to using it more this year. If you have access to one or have the ability to use your computer with your students, I love finding fun free websites that can be used to work on a variety of goals in a fun way. Students are so motivated by technology so why not use it?!
This website is called…WordArt!
When you go to the site…just click “create now” to get started!
Here you can input whatever words you want. But…let your students do it! Let's keep going with how to use this site before we talk about what kind of words to put in. But clearly, the sky is the limit! As you can see below, I character traits that are positive and can be used to describe our students!
You can select various shapes which make this website AWESOME! There are different themes, including school! You can even upload your own images!
Then, you can change the colors and fonts! Click “visualize” when you are ready to see your shape!
I love that you can save (email to parents or teachers) and print. You can display in your room to make a functional bulletin board, send home for homework, or just keep in a speech folder for safe keeping.
So…what goals can we address?
- Articulation words (can even use the theme of the image)
- Vocabulary words related to the curriculum (to study for tests)
- Vocabulary related to categories and can use theme images too
- Tier 2 vocabulary
- Character traits
- Noun and verb tenses
- Adjectives
- Describe the object(s) represented in the shape
Clearly you can see the sky is the limit! I love the shapes and colors and the ease of it all!
