Being able to answer both literal and inferential questions incorporates so many elements of speech therapy- memory, receptive language, vocabulary acquisition and usage, listening comprehension, and more so sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming…..am I right?! Sorting activities isn't only for basic vocabulary

Sorting activities isn't only for basic vocabulary/categories! You can use the same materials with your older ones too! Sorting makes it hands on, interactive, and repetitive! Using a sorting dish from a dollar store makes any sorting activity super easy! I use masking tape to write and somewhat draw the groups so that I can easily rip off and switch for another goal. I am all about quick prep!

I am always looking for new ways to work on infere

I am always looking for new ways to work on inferencing without a ton of prep. I love using receipts! I have my students guess where I went, what I did there, who I was with, and even what else I might have gotten there.

You can also use customreceipt.com to work on this digitally! This fun idea is can be used for more than just inferencing as well. Work on articulation, social skills, story comprehension, vocabulary, and more! You can make the receipts and have your students guess or even let them make them for themselves! You can easily print out the receipts too and use for pretend play or save for later!

We can never have too many tips and tricks when it comes to teaching certain goals in speech! In order for a student to be able to comprehend and express the main idea, they need to be able to express a complete sentence, able to respond to WH questions, and need to know the vocabulary of the question asked and of the passage presented.
