It is bad enough our students struggle to understand this. But when we hear it from admin or teachers…it means we need to do a better job advocating for our purpose in a school. We often are referred as “speech teachers” or just coming to “speech” but when possible…refer to yourself as our full title. I am not saying you need to host a full PD for your staff but simply letting them know why students in their class come to you can be a start! How do you handle this?!
