Looking for more motivating and interactive activities that won't require a ton of prep and perfect for mixed speech and language groups?!
I am all about finding free websites that I can use with my speech students. I let them use my Chromebook but if you have a SMARTBoard…these websites are perfect! You can easily motivate your students with a bit of technology and it makes planning so easy! I will share with you how you can let your students be newscasters for the day!
Using Breaking News Generator In Speech Therapy
This fun tool can be used to work on a variety of speech goals. CLICK HERE to check out this tool for yourself! With this tool….students can retell a story (or give main idea/summary). They can easily take a photo of a significant detail in the story that was the turning point or action packed or their favorite. Let them share their creations with their peers or let them work together to make one.
Students can also work on their articulation sounds by making a creation that is bombarded with their sound. Let them be creative!
You can also work on sentence structure, social skills, grammar, and so much more!
Using a Free Teleprompter in Speech Therapy
There are tons of free teleprompter websites and iPad apps that you can use. One example is HERE!
Let your students be real newscasters and tell the news! You can film them and replay it to check for articulation sounds, social skills, or how they met their goal. Let them work together and self reflect on their work! You can use it to retell a story, practice articulation sounds (create fake news bombarded with their sound), or tell a personal narrative! So many possibilities!
As you can see..becoming a newscaster can be fun, interactive, and motivating. It doesn't require prep and can be used to target a ton of goals….mixed groups! Each student can work on their own news report to meet their goal or they can work together on a common task that will meet each individual's goal.
