Why wordless picture books?
No reading required for our weak readers. Very open ended which allows for amazing language opportunities. Students get to “read” the story and become the authors. It builds confidence and is so much fun! To reach about more of my favorite wordless picture books CLICK HERE!
Why do I love Chalk?
The illustrations are very realistic. This allows me to easily use this with students of ALL ages! Even my older ones love it! The concept of the story is interesting and motivating. There is a ton inferred and tons of language that can be elicited.
What are some fun ways to use Chalk?
You can easily use Chalk with my inferencing visuals on a stick! Students can predict what will happen next and agree and disagree. Academic conversations will be easily elicited. Students will all be able to participate. CLICK HERE to grab these visuals!
You can easily make cheat sheets and target a variety of skills! This book is perfect for mixed groups! You can easily keep your cheat sheet in the book! CLICK HERE to read more about using cheat sheets.
You can work on combining sentences. You can model and practice using conjunctions while telling the story using the illustrations! CLICK HERE to read more about fun ways to combine sentences.
You can easily use sticky notes and work on sequencing and recall! No need to look back into the story. I love using sticky notes because you can also put them right into the book for future use.
