Are you in search of career-life balance? Or maybe struggling with burnout? This episode is for you!
Many SLPs struggle with this, and so in this episode of SLP Coffee Talk, I sat down with Ish Samarakoon to talk about how we can find more balance in our lives as busy SLPs. She also shares some valuable tips for developing a growth mindset and overcoming burnout.
Ish is a Speechie from Perth, Western Australia. She is passionate about empowering Speechies to live happy, confident, and successful lives. Having worked as a pediatric Speechie for 23 years in public health, and schools in private practice.
In 2021 she created The Speechie Life to empower Speechies so that they can avoid stress and burnout and love their careers. Through her Instagram account, Youtube channel, online programs, and 1:1 mentoring, Ish supports Speechies to thrive by eliminating the overwhelm, ditching the imposter syndrome, and feeling empowered and confident in their skills.
In This Episode You’ll Discover:
- What SLPs need to understand about imposter syndrome and how to overcome it
- What to do if you’re afraid to ask questions
- The symptoms of burnout and when it’s time to get help
- Practical tips for managing stress and an overwhelming workload
- How to tailor your activities to fit all students to simplify your day
- How to get the support you need, even if someone tells you no
I hope you enjoyed this episode and that you take some of Ish’s tips and apply them to your life, especially if you are struggling with burnout and searching for more balance in your life.
If you want to learn more from Ish, I highly recommend you download her free ebook all about preventing or overcoming burnout as an SLP.
