In The Backpack Artic Practice

August 9, 2012 4 Comments

I had so much fun reading about your ideas in my latest app code drop on Facebook!  To show you how much I appreciate all of you, I have another activity to share!  It is a back to school theme and addresses the artic sounds /k/ and /r/.  You can obviously take your own boardmaker artic cards and use with any sound or words you choose!

It is common that you may have students that have articulation goals and language goals.  You may have a group with each student having different needs.  This activity can help you!  This could also work on expanding utterance length, responding to wh- questions, school theme vocabulary, and prepositions.

Students can use the sentence strip or say words in isolation as they place the picture “in” the backpack.  You can glue the backpack and sentence onto a file folder or use an envelope or brown lunch bag to show the “in” concept.

Working on school vocabulary?  Would these items actually go in a backpack?  Why or why not?!

Wh- questions?  “Where is the ____?”  “What is in the backpack?”

Since you mentioned that /k/ and /r/ are most misarticulated sounds for your caseload, I have included pictures for those sounds!

Grab your files here:
