Why SLPs Should Use Boom Learning Digital Task Cards in Speech

What is Boom Learning?

Boom Learning is a platform for creating and using digital task cards. We love task cards in speech. They are great for drilling and practicing skills in a fun way. Why not use a computer, SMARTBoard, or iPad to use them?! These task cards are interactive, self checking, and totally fun. Students can click, drag and drop, and even fill in the blanks to respond to questions. They are immediately reinforced and can even correct their mistakes.

To use Boom Cards, YOU MUST CREATE AN ACCOUNT through Boom Learning. There are free and premium memberships.

❶ Generate student progress reports for 5 students

❸ Assign Boom Cards to unlimited students (without progress reports)

Why should you use Boom cards in speech?

They are perfect for keeping students engaged! They will be begging for more. They are easy to use, no prepping required, and are perfect for collecting data and progress monitoring!

So how does Boom Cards work?

Basically, you purchase a set or “deck” on TpT and download the “product.” This will be a pdf just like your usual TpT purchases and downloads. Scroll through the download to find where it says “click here to download product.” That will bring you to Boom Learning's website and your deck to redeem and add to your library. In order to activate or use these decks you must already have an account with Boom Learning. You can use it completely with a free account, just cannot collect and store data.

You can create “classes” and even individual students to collect data. Students will get own passwords so they can log in on a computer or iPad. This can be great for assigning speech homework! I recommend this also if you want to collect individual student data.

Want to be able to use one deck with an entire speech group (how I plan to use it?!)…you have two options. You can click “fast pin” which will give you a web address to copy and paste into a new browser to activate the deck and use or you can just use in the “preview” mode.
