Bringing gym into speech!

June 13, 2015 3 Comments

I had an “ah ha!” moment today!  I was getting ready for my next speech group when I heard the class coming back from gym.  They were busy chatting in the hallway about the game they were playing.  I decided to throw out my current plan and create something else on the spot!

Hey…it is getting really hot out and it is getting harder to stay motivated…and I mean me, not the kids!  I realized it would be in my best interest to keep the kids motivated to make all things good in the world.  I threw together a quick visual to guide a lesson:

This way I was able to target several goals at once!  We reviewed vocabulary, sorted nouns by people/places/things, reviewed verb and noun forms, created sentences using vocabulary, expressed sequences of events, and answered questions that must incorporate the vocabulary words provided.

The kids could not stop talking!  They were so excited to talk about something motivating!  I cannot wait to do this more next year with other sports lessons they are using in gym class!  This was a great way to review tons of speech and language goals at the end of the year.

****I have had TONS of requests for this visual…I wasn't originally planning to make it a product but based on the feedback/reaction/interest…stay tuned!!
