I have been blogging and on TpT for over 3 years now. I chose to remain anonymous for person and professional reasons (which I have shared over the years). I decided to go to ASHA to show my face for the first time. I was so inspired and moved by the responses. Some things I heard was, “wow you are real!” and “I wish I could see your face more!” I also got to collaborate with amazing SLP bloggers that have been doing this thing as long as I have but had the guts to disclose to the world who they were. They are themselves and share with the SLP world through blogging insight into their world personally and professionally. They are so brave and really taught me what it is like to “own it!” Well, their pushing me and a little nagging paid off. It is time to reveal myself!
If you read my blog or follow me on social media, you probably caught some images I posted from ASHA of group photos and guess what?! I was in them! I did not hide that!! But in case you could not figure out who I was…
Yup! That one is ME!! Now, who am I?!
My name is Hallie Sherman. I am a licensed speech-language pathologist working in a public school in New York. I have been working in my current school district since 2010. I graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2005 and then graduated with my masters in 2007 from Adelphi University. Since then I have worked with children of all ages from preschool to high school. I have worked in a school setting as well as home-based through agencies. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives.
When I started my blog over 3 years ago, I never had any idea what it would become. Who would read what I had to say?! I really thought it was going to be a diary of therapy ideas for myself. Due to the magic of Pinterest and social media, my thoughts and ideas have spread across the country. I am truly honored and inspired each and every day.
Below is the picture I took at the TpT headquarters in October 2015. It as the first time I introduced myself to anyone in TpT/blogging world. It was a wild experience! It opened my eyes to what I have accomplished over the past few years.
I learn so much from you too! When you send me messages or comment on social media, I learn too! I do not claim to be the best SLP, I just do what I love! I love this field and I love sharing ideas. I am nervous but excited to share more with you, now that you know who I am. I hope knowing who I am helps you relate more to me and we can connect more! Although I have been “around” for some time now, you knowing who I am is very new to me…so bare with me!! If you know me, and now are completely shocked, don't hesitate to contact me so we can chat 🙂 Sorry for keeping this from you! It was something I had to do when I first started but those reasons now longer apply!
